CURRENT VACANCIES

During our initial three years in Brisbane we have built a culture around our passion for extreme weather mitigation.  From extreme storms, floods, surges, waves and cyclones - we do it all.

Building on these initial years we are now looking for the next generation of leaders.  We are searching for a coastal engineer and a flood engineer with three to six years experience to join our team and work towards a senior or Team Leader position.  There are only two requirements; you have strong technical experience and an interest in innovation.

Who we are looking for:

coastal engineer or coastal modeller specialising in either detailed design or coastal processes modelling.  Your role would support end-to-end projects, from field work, modelling, concept appraisal, engineering design and construction supervision.

In the past year we have deployed our own drifters, undertaken three Council-wide Coastal Hazard Studies, run Delft3D models for tides, waves, sediment transport and cyclones, we have completed a breakwater detailed design for the Redlands Council, a geobag detailed design at Maroochydore, we are designing new rock revetments in the Fraser Coast, working on three separate islands within Moreton Bay, and have completed physical model testing at both QGHL and WRL.  Any candidate needs to:

  • Have an Australian work VISA, and between 3-8 years experience.

  • Have a desire to work in a civil/structural engineering role or a coastal modelling role.

  • Understand short and long-term coastal processes.

  • Be willing to undertake field work to support or projects - from beach surveys, deploying drifters, measuring beach profiles etc.

  • For a modelling role - Have performed numerical modelling for cyclones, storm surges, waves, beach morphology, coastal erosion, or estuarine processes.  We use all modelling packages, with a preference towards Delft3D, SWAN, and Xbeach.

  • For a civil/structural role - have experience using equations developed by Vellinga, Van Der Meer, CERC, Kamphuis and Dean, have experience in concept and detailed design, plus be able to use AutoCAD and 12D.

  • Have experience using Python, R or Matlab.

  • Be registered/RPEQ or working towards chartership.

A flood modeller specialising in detailed numerical modelling of fluvial processes.  Your role would be to work on hydrology and flood studies, options assessments, fluvial modelling, and engineering design.

In the past year we have developed an Australia-wide hydrologic flow assessment, developed Tuflow models throughout Queensland, developed flood forecasting systems in Adelaide, Port Douglas, Noosa and currently Byron Bay, and are working on flood risk projects in India and Vietnam.  Any candidate needs to:

  • Have an Australian work VISA, and between 3-8 years experience.

  • Have a passion to develop innovative flood mitigation strategies for communities at risk of flooding.

  • Have detailed experience using Tuflow, MIKE FLOOD, or HEC-RAS.

  • Have experience using URBS, RORB, or XP-RAFTS.

  • Have experience using Python, R or Matlab.

  • Be registered/RPEQ or working towards chartership.
